Creature: Ryu
The Ryu are one of the 12 species in this world. Each are said to be a descendant of a particular god. The Ryu are mountain and plain dwellers, they are specialized in the art of wind manipulation and are descended from the Dragon Goddess of the mountains. Depending on the strength of their connection to the Dragon Goddess, their horns are either large or small, though they are all shaped similarly. Many with a weaker blood line do not have tails and have more human shaped ears. Like the rest of the other species and their Gods, it is said that the Ryu came into being when the Dragon Goddess fell in love with a human male who seduced her to gain her power. They had a child together which was the first Ryu, and the man then killed the Goddess so he could use their child's power for his own gain. The Goddess's wrath and grief from this was so strong that her blood could now overpower a human's. Meaning every time a human and Ryu made a child together, the child would not be part human and part Ryu, but nearly wholly Ryu themselves. Only the strongest genes from the human would survive, and that is why there are so few humans left in the world. At least that's according to the religious texts.

Dimension:
Yaeyama is the name of this world. 12 dominant species live within it, each with their own gods, cultures, and climates, many of them similar to those of the eastern parts of our world. The 12 species consist of the Ryu (descendants of the Dragon Goddess), Ran (descendants of the Snake God), Ma (descendants of the Horse Goddess), Yeomso (descendants of the Goat God), Ling (descendants of the Monkey God), Tandang (descendants of the Rooster God), Kutta (descendants of the Dog God), Buta (descendants of the Pig God), Tikus (descendants of the Rat goddess), Niu (Descendants of the Ox God), Seux (descendants of the Tiger God), and the Kelinci (descendants of the Rabbit Goddess). Each of these descendants have an element they're gifted with, that element corresponds with the element that the God/Goddess, that they descended from, possessed. For example, the descendants of the Dragon Goddess, the Ryu, manipulate air and wind, while the descendants of the Tiger God, the Seux, manipulate heat and flame. Each of these species have certain people that they worship as if they are deities themselves. These people are those with the strongest connection to the God/Goddess that they've descended from, whether it be through blood, being one of the most powerful or skilled elemental manipulators in that particular species, or some other means. Only the strongest of blood or the most powerful are proclaimed as High Deities and they in a way rule over their country. They are come to even by the kings (Some are even Kings themselves) of the country for instruction on matters concerning the country. Most people have the ability to manipulate their ancestral element, however not everyone can. Those people are called humans and are usually treated as criminals, inbred, or perverts because of their lack of god blood, which is supposed to make them more susceptible to evil deeds.

The world has 12 different countries, which have not warred, as it is against the beliefs of the Gods and Goddess. However, there are minor disputes on which parts of what land belongs to which God/Goddess, through either contradictions in each country's history or religious texts. This is either settled by the country's taking turns on owning that piece of land (usually for a period of 10 years each, or it is left unclaimed by both parties if neither is willing to co-operate.

The people living here aren't very technologically advanced, with the most complex machinery being steam powered, though steamed powered machines are not easy to come by if you're not fairly well off. The steam powered machines are usually used for transport like trains or a machine similar to a bus. There's a few farms out there that even have steam powered machines that plow the fields for them. There has even been rumors of a man making a machine that flies.
Even though there isn't much in the way of technology, the people do use their magics to make life easier. From watering the crops, to lighting a fire during a cold night, it's used in many ways. The Ryu especially enjoy using their wind magic to fly, but it's also used for more simple things like drying off one's body after a bath.

Personality: 
Naoki is kind and polite to just about everyone, always putting others before himself and his needs. He's usually formal and quiet with those he doesn't know very well or is unsure of. But once he feels he has made a friend of you he can be quite chatty and physical. In the newness of everything happening around him, he can have a short attention span and may sometimes change the subject of conversation to find out what something is or what it does. If you do something to offend Naoki he will still be kind to you but he will be much more abrupt and blunt.

Traits:

Positive:
    Friendly- He is friendly towards anyone who speaks to him, even if they've wronged him in the past. It's just the way he was raised to act, but it is also in his nature. He also doesn't see the point in being unfriendly, when kindness brings better results than rudeness.
   Generous- He will give away or share anything that he has. Even if it means he is left with nothing in the end. Other people's happiness is above his own in his mind.
    Caring- He doesn't like seeing other people unhappy or hurt in someway. He will go out of his way to try and make someone feel better, or help them with a problem they have. Even if just sitting and listening is something that will help, he would do so until the person felt better.
    Mannerly- He is rarely rude, when he is it is usually by mistake or ignorance. He is neat and tidy, always cleaning up after himself. He always uses please and thank you and is more formal until it's stated that he can be more relaxed with that person.
    Optimistic- He doesn't believe in thinking about things that could go wrong. Instead he believes that if you think things will go right, or work in your favour than they will.

Neutral:
    Quiet- He is quiet in the sense that he won't speak to someone unless spoken to, especially if he doesn't know you that well or if you're a stranger. But if you are suffering or you are friendly with him he might become quite chatty.
   Vain- He always makes sure he is clean and in ideal condition. His hair must be done right, his clothes must be neat and tidy and his makeup must be just so. He loves to dress up and make himself look pretty. If there is a surface where he can see his reflection he will preen and make sure he looks proper.

Negative:
    Absent-Minded- He sometimes has trouble focusing on one thing for a long time. Especially if there's a lot going on at once, or there are to many interesting things gathered all in one area. He can forget things that he's been told, when he has a lot on his mind and sometimes he'll seem to just float away in his own thoughts.
   Lonely- He didn't have any friends in his home world, and his family had sent him away when he was young. He wasn't close to anyone and even his attendants would be distant with him because of his status. He longs to have someone close to him, someone that he can smile genuinely with and laugh and play with.
    Naive- He doesn't know much of the outside world, except what he's read in books. Everything is new and fascinating to him so he can be easily misled or manipulated. Also because he was sheltered and lived in a world with relatively no violence, it's hard for him to imagine the badness in people so he trusts people more easily than he should. He is also Naive in the fact that he's innocent about the more mature things in life.
    Submissive- He will do what is asked of him without much complaint, unless it's something completely out of the question (Like hurting or killing someone). Most of his life he lived to make the lives of his worshipers better, putting their happiness before his own. He still thinks much the same way, so he will do something to please someone even if he is unhappy with doing so.
    Flirtatious- Although he doesn't mean anything by it, when he gets close to someone he tends to use his hands more and get physically close to them by kissing their cheek or stroking their hair to name a few. Sometimes even his tail will magically wrap itself around that person. Especially if that person has another tail. The way he does this can seem a little sexual but it's just him expressing how comfortable he is with them.
    Feeble- His lifestyle made his body weaker then the average man. Sitting all day and night, rarely leaving the shrine. A diet of rice and various vegetables. He hasn't grown much muscle nor has much fat. He isn't skin and bones, but his ribs are noticeable.


History:
Nao was born to two strong blooded Ryu, who happened to be siblings, but only to keep the bloodline pure. They lived in the capital city that lay within the mountain valley of their country, and had been high in the ruling class for generations. He never knew much of his parents, having been separated from them since he was 3. He didn't quite know the exact details, but from what he heard whispers of, he was supposed to be in line for the next high deity after the current high deity, his father, was gone. However he had heard that his mother had complaints of not being the next one herself, so he was whisked off to a village at the plains on the base of the mountain for his own protection, or that's what he had overheard his attendants say. They had also said that he was now a she, and to keep the fact he was a boy a secret, for his own protection. He thought that was strange, and he did ask why, but when his question was brushed aside he never questioned it again. Especially after coming to love female clothes so much. But still, Naoki disliked every moment of living there, though each day that fact was hidden behind a gentle smile. He was a Deity, he was supposed to put the needs of the people over himself, and it was selfish of him to want more than what he had, especially when he was worshipped so highly. He was kept behind lace curtains when he had worshippers or anyone coming to see him really, even his attendants. When he wasn't being worshipped he was stuck by himself in a shrine, the guards outside on duty his only company, though they were forbidden to speak to him directly. He wasn't allowed to leave the property and was only allowed outside for a restricted amount of time, usually only for festivals, weddings and funerals.

As years and years went by Naoki had reached the age of 16, by this time he had become more and more lonely. Sure he had a bunch of people treating him like he was a god but he wanted something more, something like a friend. He went on for many a year, pushing on fake smiles for worshippers during the day, his loneliness making him unable to smile genuinely, and at night, sitting by himself in a candlelit room, and trying to make friends with his attendants, who all seemed to be frightened when he spoke to them and shied away. By the time he reached 20 he had had enough. This is when his sneaking out began, heading in different directions each time. But he was always caught by one of the guards. Because of the trees on the property it made it nearly impossible for him to fly away without getting his clothes snagged. But in the end the guards and attendants got so tired of it, they locked him inside at night. Naoki gave up for a long time after that, figuring that if he were meant to be free then it would happen sometime in the future. He just had to wait patiently for the right time. Four years later, and with nothing changing except his age, he still waited.

Shortly after his 24th birthday he was given a chance to leave the shrine, having to travel to bless a wedding outside of the village. As he sat in the back of the carriage he watched the world pass by, when something in the distance caught his eye. A strange machine that belched out smoke from a funnel on it's roof. It travelled on wheels on rails. He figured that it was the newly invented train that he'd read about. As he looked around the carriage he noticed that there weren't so many guards, just two travelling beside the carriage. Probably because he hadn't tried to sneak away for a long time. This is when he thought of something. If he could make it to the train, then the train would take him somewhere far away. Then they couldn't find him and keep him away. He had no plan, but with the train in sight, and the security lax, he couldn't pass up such an opportunity. He shook his fans from the sleeves of his kimono and opened them. Channelling his magic into the air and bursting open the doors at the back of the carriage. He wrapped his legs with the air and commanded it to lift him. He shot out of the back of the carriage, using his tail like a rudder to direct himself towards the train. The guards were hot on his tail though, each one of them begging him to come back. Not this time though, he couldn't go back, he'd lose his mind if he did. He made it to the tracks, flying low over the ground, the train in sight up ahead as he desperately tried to catch it. The guards lagging behind on their slower horses, until they were only specs in the distance. The train Naoki had been following slowed down a bit, only to pass through a station, but it was what was at the station that made him stop and hover himself to his feet. The station was empty, and there was a train sitting there with doors open, waiting for passengers. It was different than the train he had been following. Odd, it seemed more advanced. He curiously walked up to one of the open doors, peeking his head inside. It was empty, which only drove his curiosity. Slowly he moved inside, flinching as the doors closed behind him and nearly falling over as it began to move.

Naoki had only been on the train for 6 months or so until suddenly disappearing from the train, leaving many of his close friends and family worried for his safety. During the last world that he was in, he had gone off to explore some mountains in the distance. They reminded him of his home world and in his reminiscing he didn't notice the fast approaching storm until it was to late to make it out of the mountains and back to the safety of the train. Aka who was with him at the time managed to lead Naoki into a near-by cave where they hoped to ride out the storm. The lightening and thunder was vicious. Crashing around them and shaking the earth above their heads. Each strike seemed to get closer and closer until a blinding flash and deafening bang shook the cave. The force so great it threw Naoki and Aka backwards. A bolt of lightening had struck just above the entrance of the cave, exploding the rock and causing it to collapse in a small rock slide. After several hours and worried licking from Aka, Naoki woke up to the red flame from Aka which lit the small area that hadn't collapsed. He was injured, a bump on his head and several bleeding cuts, but nothing life threatening. After getting his wits about him he began to slowly dig and move the rocks, using his wind to help him move the heavier ones that he couldn't manage with his own body strength. It was exhausting work and he had to rest quite often. It took several days for him to dig out, but relief swept over him when he finally saw the light of day. Exhausting, thirsty and starving he slowly made his way out of the mountains, flying low and slow. All he wanted was to get back to him room with Pumpelo and cuddle and sleep. Maybe a slice of chocolate cake wouldn't hurt either. As he neared the station where the train had been stationed, Aka's mew caught his attention, she was anxious and he soon learned why. The train was no where in sight. Naoki was crushed. His home and his family gone. How long would it be until the train came back? What if it never did? He spent several weeks mourning his life there, tears stinging his eyes and wetting his cheeks often, but at least he had Aka with him. He wasn't alone, though he was still lonely for the people he loved. With the money that he had made during his stay on the train he bought a little house to stay in. One that was close to the station and he made sure that he could see it from his window. Every day he waited and watched the tracks hoping to see his beloved train pull into the station.


Skills:
Because he is a supposed descendant of the Dragon Goddess, he has been gifted with the power of wind manipulation. He has used this magic throughout his life so it is second nature for him. It is easy for him to create a twister or a wind storm. To levitate boulders with air or fly himself and other people through the sky. He can condense the air into sharp blades of wind which can be strong enough to cut down a small forest. His eyes are not like a normal person's he can see over great distances if he has a clear view of the area. His pupils are slit(similar to a reptile's), so he has pretty good night vision as well. Because he can see so well he is good at targeting things precisely over a far distance with his wind magic. His other skills include cooking simple meals such as stew, rice and stir fries. He is also quite graceful and skilled with fan dancing as it is used in some of the blessing rituals that he once preformed and quite a few of the moves he uses when casting his wind magic. During his time away from the train he taught himself to cook more meals and also how to sew, using this skill to make new clothes as well as mend them.

Weaknesses:
He doesn't have much muscle or fat on his body, because of this heavy blows could seriously harm him. Also because of his reduced fitness he doesn't have much endurance, making him tire easily after moving around a lot or using a lot of his magic (either in one strong attack or over a long period of time). He isn't skilled in fighting or in battle. He is also weak against any element or magic that can overpower wind or can't be swept away or deflected by the wind. He is easily trusting of people so he can be taken advantage of easily or used.  Because of his reptile like ancestry, his body starts slowing and shutting down when the temperature gets to cold, sending him into a dormant state. He can be easily devastated if someone he cares for betrays him or uses him and he would never forgive himself if he ever hurt someone, whether emotionally or physically. His biggest fear is to be made alone again and be locked up with his life controlled in all ways like it was before he ran away.

Misc. Facts:
Nao is susceptible to the cold, because of this he easily gets sick if the temperature dips below 10C (50F), and if it drops even lower than 0C (32F) his body will go into a dormant state leaving him vulnerable. If it is cold he will tuck his tail up under his yukata so it's not visible and to help keep himself warm. His tail is prehensile but he uses his hands, using a tail in such a way is considered to be rude. He likes fancy shiny things like gold, silver, and jewels and finds it hard to keep his eyes and hands off of them. He doesn't correct people when they mislabel his gender, having been used to playing the part of a girl, it doesn't bother him at all. He loves feminine clothes anyways and probably acts the part of one rather well. But he is comfortable with his body and doesn't wish to change it.

Facts: 
- Aka was a gift from A'am to celebrate their becoming a family. 
- The stone can levitate, therefore the dragon baby can also levitate even though it doesn't have wings. Floating takes no energy for the baby. -- The user wearing the stone is granted the ability to levitate if the dragon is inside.
- The baby does breathe fire but it doesn't burn. Although hot, it only sucks out the energy of it's victims which is then absorbed into the stones of the dragon. 
- She has retractable claws
- She returns to the stone whenever she is out of energy. In order for her to come back after losing her energy, magic must be infused into the stone to revive her. 
- The stone itself is actually more like a carrier for Aka. It is not the actual dragon in stone form (think pokeballs). 
- The stones on Aka's body also reform differently every time she comes out of the stone. However, they remain in the same positions (her horns will always be there, though they may not look the same). 
- The dragon is about the size of a small cat and likes to perch on shoulders or heads like a bird. 
- Because of the stone's levitation, she is extremely lightweight to carry. 
- The stones on her body are where she stores her energy. These stones can break, and if they do it will release all the stored energy and will drain the baby dramatically. If broken, they can reform if the dragon returns to its stone or if she is given more magic.

Personality:

Aka is very playful and will get into mischief if not kept an eye on. She is affectionate towards Nao but shy and a little stand offish towards strangers or people she hasn't spent a lot of time with. She's starting to turn into a bit of a princess, sitting on people's heads when she feels like comfortable. She's very protective of Naoki after seeing him harmed and is weary of strangers, though she'll trust them if Naoki says they're okay. She'll only listen to a few other people besides Nao and only if Nao isn't around at the time. She does get jealous if Naoki turns his attention onto someone else for a while and will try and get in the way to be noticed.

Nao's green gaze moved about the train car he'd just entered, His eyebrows raising at how different everything was. From the chairs to the colours to the decorations. Even the magic that was this vehicle. It was all so different from the world he was used to. This is what he wanted though right? To get away from the routine of every day, to escape being confined to the same place day after day.His astonished expression quickly changed to one of pure excitement, and with a genuine happy smile on his face he stepped further into the car. Outstretched hands ran over the fabric of the chairs that he walked by, once feeling them he quickly paused and bent over to examine them. "This fabric, so strange. I wonder which animal this fur came from..." Nao whispered to himself, curiosity etched into his voice. After stroking the fabric few times he moved on. Things continued to catch his eye, everything so new and wonderful he wasn't quite sure what to do with himself. He felt so elated. He felt so free. And for the next hour or so he just went around and examined all that was in sight, the tip of his tail flicking back and forth the whole time.
